Working as an optician in Downtown Vancouver since 2009 drove my interest in frame design. Inspired by the countless exquisite frames that passed through the shop, and fitting each unique frame to the client allowed me to design a fit perfect for me. I have always loved the look and feel of acetate frames, however I found few that fit my features as well as my high prescription. With Mtizamo, I created a narrower bridge to compensate for the distance between the lenses and my pupils, and created a thicker rim to hide the deep edges of the high prescription lenses. Because of the thickness of the acetate, I decided on a thinner transparent acetate for the temples. This complemented the frame with rich browns, beiges, and blacks ensuring the front face was not too overpowering.
