JOTO

Joto

Joto is a project centred around the movement of light and reflections. Creating playful interactive spaces.

Joto was an exciting project to work on because I had the freedom to pick an under-utilized space in a brand new university campus and turn it into something magical. Situated at the East corner of the new Emily Carr Campus on Great Northern Way, with 60ft floor to ceiling windows expanding 2 walls. by using a jammer gear and 550 para-cord attached to thin gauge sheets of colourful acrylic, users are invited to change the space as they see fit, letting the sunlight cast colourful reflections throughout the communal area. The jammer gear and para-cord functions the same as the cord on blinds do, when the cord is pulled vertically the tension remains loose, however when pulled on an angle the cord locks into place.
